In 1928 John (Mac) McGinnis Williams sailed his 70ft Norman Wright built gaff rigged schooner,
Francois, from Brisbane to Cairns and back. Among the passengers and crew were: Mac Williams (middle row, second from left wearing a black bow tie and hat) and his wife Frances Ann (front row second from left); Captain George Kerr from the Torres Straits (middle row, far right) and his wife (front row, far right); Sailing Master Duncan McRae; George Wardle and his wife; Joseph Barrington Waters who was manager of Fullers Theatre in Brisbane; Cyril Mohr (back row far left wearing cap - positive ID by his grand-daughter Carol) James Dodd; Norman Hazel; Bill Rathbone. I would appreciate if anyone could match up the remaining passengers and crew with their photos. |
