Ion (Jack) Lynar enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on the 15th
July 1915. He served with the 1st Division Signal Company and the 17th
Division in France. Returned home June 1919.

Archibald was the 10th Earl of Argyle. He was involved in the
Revolution of 1688 and was one of those instrumental in bringing over
William of Orange. For his services to William, he was created Duke of
Argyle in 1701.

Ken Heatley served during World War Two in the 25th Battalion, AIF.
He put his age up to enlist. His date of birth was given as 6th March
1925. His Service number was QX58176.Enlistment date was 3rd February
1944 and Discharge date 1st July 1946. It is beleived that Ken had two
Service No's. Ken first enlisted after putting his age up. He was in
New Guinea when his mother found out that he had joined the Army. She
contacted the authorities and had him returned to Australia. He again
put his age up, this time by nine months. The enlistment date listed
above is for the second time. On his Discharge, Ken had a number of
jobs including a stint as a Bus Driver. Ken worked for a number of
years at the Kyogle Golf Club and was very well known in the
community.
Ken died at a Nursing Home in Byron Bay, NSW.

Individual Note: BIOGRAPHY
William Dawson was born to Bridget and William Henry Dawson in
Gladesville, Sydney. His father, who was born in Tasmania and later
moved to Victoria and then N.S.W. had been a Police Constable in the
Cooma district where he met and married Bridget Moylan. They later
moved to Sydney where he took up a position as a Warder at Callen Park
Mental Hospital. Bill was the fifth child of sixteen born to Bridget.
In 1907 the family moved to the Kyogle district of Northern N.S.W.
The story of the Dawson Family is told in a book titled "From Kilronan
to Franklin and Beyond" by Sharron Brennan. Bill Dawson's Military
History has been written up by his son Allan Charles, titled "The
Military History of William Vesey Dawson". He served in the 5th Light
Horse Regiment during World War One. He was awarded the Distinguished
Conduct Medal for gallantry and distinguished service in the Field.
During World War Two, he served in the Volunteer Defence Corp.
Following his death on 23rd February, 1974 while on a visit to his
brother in Sydney, a Memorial Service was conducted for William Vesey
Dawson on the 27th February, 1974, at the Presbyterian Church Coffs
Harbour. He was Cremated at Lismore and his ashes scattered to the
four winds.
